Advantage of Improving Your Classic Car Audio

When you’re looking for the best way to improve your classic car audio system, there are a few important things to consider. First and foremost is the source unit, or head unit. This is the primary component of any audio system and will provide all the inputs, outputs, and control necessary to get the most out of your sound system. You need to make sure that it has an FM tuner, at least one aux input (for connecting a phone, mp3 player, etc.), and a good display screen with multiple color options so you can customize your look.

Speakers play a major role in how good your audio sounds as well. If you’re not careful with this purchase it can really have a negative impact on your overall listening experience. Look for speakers that have high power ratings, low distortion levels, and robust construction materials such as MDF cabinets or titanium dome tweeters.

You can never have too much power when it comes to car audio systems. The more wattage available from the amplifier will result in higher volumes and fuller sound reproduction. Make sure that any amplifier you choose has enough power for both highs and lows – don’t be tempted by those “high powered” models that only offer one type of sound output! Also keep in mind that if you plan on adding an aftermarket subwoofer you’ll need even more power than usual.

The electrical systems requirements for classic cars are also something else to take into account when improving your classic car audio system. Depending on how old your car is you may need a new battery or alternator upgrade to ensure proper operation of any added hardware or components such as amplifiers or even subwoofers. It may also be wise to invest in extra wiring if what currently exists isn’t up-to-par; faulty wiring can lead to all sorts of problems such as distorted sound quality, poor performance of components attached to the system such as amplifiers, poor connection between components like CD players and speakers due to resistance, etc.

Finally, if all your criteria are met then you may want to consider adding a subwoofer (or two) into the mix for extra bass response – just make sure it fits! Subwoofers come in various sizes and feature varied designs which can help achieve different goals – flat frequency response versus loudness-focused designs being two examples – so be sure to read up on them before taking the plunge! Don’t forget about matching impedances too; mismatched impedance between amps/subs/head units can lead to significant losses in power transfer which translates into weaker bass performance than expected even if peak power numbers seem high at first glance!
