The grille is the single most recognizable part of a truck. Swap it, and the whole front end changes: a stock work truck can look like a Raptor, a TRD Pro, a Denali or a blacked-out custom build in an afternoon. At Advanced Car Stereo Riverside, we install truck grille swaps and front-end upgrades for Ford, Chevy, GMC, Ram and Toyota, including Raptor-style, TRD Pro-style, Rebel-style and luxury mesh grilles, with integrated LED lighting, front cameras and sensors that keep working the way they should.
A modern grille is not just a piece of plastic. It often holds radar sensors, cameras, active shutters, lighting and airflow paths for the cooling system. This guide explains what you need to know before you buy, the brands we trust from value to luxury, and how our team installs a grille so it fits perfectly and keeps every system working. Our financing options cover full front-end builds.
Popular grille styles
Raptor-style grilles (Ford F-150 and Super Duty)
Big “FORD” lettering, a bold honeycomb or bar design and amber marker lights give the F-150 the look of the Raptor. Raptor-style grilles are one of the most popular truck upgrades in the country.
TRD Pro-style grilles (Toyota Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner)
The “TOYOTA” heritage lettering and blacked-out mesh of the TRD Pro look is a favorite for Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner owners.
Rebel and TRX-style grilles (Ram)
Ram owners often choose Rebel or TRX-style grilles with large “RAM” lettering and aggressive designs.
Denali, AT4 and luxury mesh grilles (GMC and Chevy)
Chrome and black mesh grilles give Silverado and Sierra a premium, luxury look, while blacked-out versions suit custom and off-road builds.
Billet, mesh and bar grilles
Machined billet aluminum, stainless mesh and horizontal bar inserts are classic custom styles that work on almost any truck.
LED-integrated grilles
Many aftermarket grilles include amber or white LED marker lights, light bars or DRL strips built into the design.
What to know before you buy a grille
Front cameras and 360 systems
Many trucks have a front camera in the grille emblem area for the 360-degree view. A replacement grille must provide a mount and correct aim for that camera, or the system will show a black or misaligned image. We check compatibility before ordering. Learn more in our 360 truck camera guide.
Radar and ADAS sensors
Adaptive cruise control and forward collision systems use radar sensors that may sit behind the grille or emblem. Radar must “see” through the materials in front of it. Metal mesh, the wrong emblem, or an offset sensor can trigger warnings or reduce how well the safety systems work. Some vehicles need a radar-compatible grille or a relocation bracket, and the sensor may need recalibration. We take ADAS seriously; read our blind spot monitoring guide to see how we approach vehicle safety technology.
Active grille shutters and airflow
Some trucks use active shutters behind the grille to improve fuel economy. A new grille must not block them or the airflow to the radiator, intercooler and A/C condenser. Towing in Inland Empire heat makes airflow even more important.
Marker light legality
Federal rules allow amber identification lamps on vehicles 80 inches wide or wider, which is why Raptor-style lights are legal on many full-size trucks. On narrower vehicles, grille lights may need to be wired for off-road or show use only. We wire lighting correctly for your truck.
Fitment and finish quality
Cheap grilles often have poor plastic, weak clips, fading finishes and gaps that never line up. Quality grilles use UV-stable ABS or polycarbonate, metal hardware where needed and a durable finish.
Grille and front-end brands we trust, from value to luxury
Paramount Automotive
Paramount offers a wide range of truck grilles, including Raptor-style and LED-integrated designs, at accessible prices.
Rough Country
Rough Country makes grilles, light bar mounts and front-end accessories that pair with their lift kits. We are experienced with their products; see our Rough Country lift kit guide.
T-Rex Grilles
T-Rex is one of the best-known names in truck grilles, with billet, mesh and laser-cut designs and LED-integrated options. Their quality and fit are a step up from most aftermarket brands.
Putco
Putco offers stainless steel mesh and bar grilles and lighting-integrated designs with a premium finish.
OEM and factory upgrade grilles
For many trucks, we can install genuine factory grilles from higher trims, such as a TRD Pro, Rebel, Denali or AT4 grille, for a perfect fit and a factory-correct look.
Addictive Desert Designs and premium off-road front ends
For serious builds, a grille is often part of a complete front end with a new bumper, winch mount and lighting. Brands like Addictive Desert Designs and other premium manufacturers build complete front-end systems for desert and off-road trucks.
The luxury build
A luxury front end combines a premium grille with integrated lighting, a color-matched or ceramic-coated finish, upgraded headlights, a front camera that works perfectly, and paint protection film to keep it all looking new. It is the difference between “new grille” and “this truck looks custom”.
Complete the look: front-end upgrades that pair with a grille
- Headlight retrofits and LED headlights for better light and a modern look.
- Fog lights and light bars; see our LED light bar guide.
- Emblem blackouts and chrome delete with vinyl wrap or paint.
- Bumpers, grille guards and winch mounts.
- Paint protection film on the grille, hood and bumper; see our wrap and tint services.
- Electric running boards such as AMP Research PowerStep.
- Leveling kits and lifts for a stance that matches the new front end.
How we install a grille
- Compatibility check. We confirm the grille fits your exact trim and works with your camera, radar, sensors and shutters.
- Front-end disassembly. On many trucks the bumper cover or upper trim must be removed. We protect the paint and track every clip.
- Transfer components. Cameras, sensors, emblems and brackets are transferred and mounted correctly.
- Lighting wiring. LED markers and light bars are wired with fused, switched circuits and proper connectors, never “tapped into whatever is close”.
- Fit and alignment. We align the grille so gaps are even and it sits flush with the hood and headlights.
- System verification. We test the front camera, parking sensors and lighting, and confirm no ADAS warnings. If recalibration is needed, we tell you before the job starts.
- Final inspection. We check for rattles and secure fit.
Grille options by truck
Ford F-150 and Super Duty
Raptor-style grilles are the top choice, with amber marker lights and bold lettering. On newer F-150s with front cameras and radar, we choose grilles with the correct mounts and radar-friendly emblems. Super Duty owners also love Tremor-style and blacked-out mesh designs.
Chevy Silverado
Silverado owners often choose ZR2 or Trail Boss-style designs, black bowtie emblems, or full mesh grilles with LED light bars. The Silverado’s large grille opening makes it one of the best trucks to customize.
GMC Sierra
Denali-style chrome mesh gives a Sierra a luxury look, while AT4-style black grilles suit off-road builds. Factory upgrade grilles from higher trims often fit lower trims with the right parts.
Ram 1500 and HD
Rebel and TRX-style grilles with large “RAM” lettering are favorites, along with Sport-style body-color grilles. Ram trucks with adaptive cruise need radar-compatible designs.
Toyota Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner
TRD Pro-style heritage grilles are the most popular, with optional amber or white LEDs. On the latest generation Tacoma and Tundra, sensor compatibility is especially important.
Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator
Jeep owners can choose replacement grilles, grille inserts and overlays, often combined with new headlights and bumpers for a complete look.
Finish options
Grilles come in gloss black, matte black, chrome, body color and two-tone finishes. Body-color matching requires painting, which we can coordinate for a seamless factory look. Chrome delete wraps let you black out chrome without permanent changes. For long-lasting protection, ceramic coating or PPF on the grille surface keeps it looking new. Read about our ceramic coating services.
Common grille swap mistakes
- Buying a grille for the wrong trim or sensor package, which leaves the camera or radar without a mount.
- Forcing clips and breaking the bumper cover tabs, which causes rattles and gaps.
- Splicing grille lights into random wires, which can cause electrical faults and warning lights.
- Ignoring ADAS warnings after the swap instead of verifying the systems.
- Cheap grilles that fade within a year in Southern California sun.
What affects the cost of a front-end upgrade
The grille itself is only part of the price. Trucks that require bumper cover removal, camera and radar transfers, lighting wiring and possible ADAS recalibration take more time than a simple bolt-on swap. Paint matching, PPF, ceramic coating and additional lighting also add to the total. We give you a complete quote up front, including any calibration your truck may need, so there are no surprises, and our financing options make it easy to do the whole front end at once.
Grille swap or full front-end build?
Not sure which way to go? Bring your truck in and we will walk around it with you. If you simply want a new look, a grille swap is one of the best value upgrades you can make. If you plan to add a winch, more lighting or bigger tires, it often makes sense to plan a complete front end at once so the grille, bumper, lights and sensors all work together and the truck has a consistent style.
Frequently asked questions
Will a new grille affect my adaptive cruise control?
It can if it is not compatible. We choose grilles that work with your radar sensor and verify the systems after installation.
Will my front camera still work?
Yes, with a compatible grille and correct mounting. We check this before ordering.
Are Raptor-style grille lights legal?
On trucks 80 inches or wider, amber identification lamps are generally allowed. We will explain what applies to your truck.
How long does a grille swap take?
Many grille swaps take a few hours. Front-end packages with lighting and sensors take longer.
Can I finance a front-end package?
Yes. See our financing options and no credit check programs. Financing is subject to approval.
What makes us different: Riverside’s only shop with its own installer school
A grille swap on a modern truck touches cameras, radar, sensors and lighting. Getting it right takes more than a socket set; it takes trained technicians.
We are the only shop in Riverside that runs its own hands-on installer school. Our Master Car Audio Installation Boot Camp teaches students the craft inside our working shop: power and ground, wire gauge and voltage-drop math, signal flow, amplifier classes and gain setting with a meter, enclosure design, DSP tuning with an RTA, and professional troubleshooting. We also run car audio installation workshops, 3-day window tint and vehicle wrap courses, and MECP training.
Why does that matter to you as a customer? Because a shop that teaches the trade has to master it first. Every method we teach is a method we use on your vehicle, and our instructors are working installers who are on the shop floor the rest of the week. When you have to explain to a classroom why a connection, a fuse or a ground is done a certain way, there is no room for shortcuts. That is how we became the master of our domain, and it is why other installers come to us to learn.
- 35+ years at the same Riverside location, with the same standards.
- We train installers, so our own team works to a teaching standard every day.
- Engineering first: we measure, calculate and test instead of guessing.
- One shop for the whole vehicle: audio, lighting, security, tint, PPF, wraps, wheels, tires and suspension under one roof.
- Flexible payments with financing and leasing options.
